Wiltshire basketball Academy
What is it?
Formerly named ajsbasketballcoaching now Wiltshire basketball academy. It is an exciting new academy with the main aim to provide a pathway from school to clubs and competition.
How will it achieve this?
We plan to have hubs strategically placed around the county. Currently we have 3 Hubs Frome, Trowbridge and now Chippenham. We then want to offer schools in the areas of these hubs free taster sessions to promote our hub clubs. Using our growing communities we look at where the interest is to run a club, just like what we have done with Chippenham.
Does this change the clubs?
No, essentially the clubs have their own entity especially Trowbridge where we have a committee and big community.
How does a player progress in the academy?
Essentially all players involved with our clubs are academy players and you're welcome to attend any other club session via Spond at an additional cost. Coming soon will be an all access fee. Where for a small monthly fee you can gain access to all other academy sessions on top of your membership. Trowbridge Basketball club will serve as the main hub for the academy as it has the infrastructure and community behind it to do so. This will be where our national league and Webba league offering will be.
Does this mean there will be trials to join?
Yes, next year (2026/2027) there may possibly be trials to join the main hub and our league teams. Where by giving all academy players across all our hubs a chance to join our league teams.
Wiltshire basketball team's!
Wiltshire basketball academy plans to be the home for county level Basketball. Working with other clubs and our hubs to invite kids to trial out for the county. This will lead to competing in competitions against other county teams. There will be more news on this soon!
